A delicate and moist white almond cake featuring a tender crumb and subtle almond flavor, perfect for celebrations or an elegant dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup finely ground almonds (almond meal)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg whites one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground almonds.
  5. Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
  6. Stir in the almond extract and vanilla extract gently.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Optional: Dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, serve the cake with fresh berries and whipped cream or a drizzle of honey almond syrup.
