  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup finely crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
  • Additional powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the salt and peppermint extract, mixing thoroughly.
  4. Gradually stir in the flour until a soft dough forms.
  5. Fold in the crushed peppermint candies evenly throughout the dough.
  6. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, dust cookies generously with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For an extra festive touch, drizzle melted white chocolate over the cooled cookies before dusting with powdered sugar.
