Holiday Cookies

These classic Holiday Cookies blend festive flavors and buttery textures, perfect for celebrating with family and friends during the festive season.

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy using a mixer.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) to the butter mixture and beat until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Decorate each cookie with colored sugar or sprinkles as desired.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges begin to turn golden brown.
  10. Remove from oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra festive touch, dip half of each cooled cookie in melted white chocolate and sprinkle with crushed peppermint candies.
