This classic Chicken and Dumplings recipe features tender chicken simmered in a rich broth with soft, fluffy dumplings, creating a comforting and hearty meal perfect for any day.

  • 4 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cups chopped carrots
  • 2 cups chopped celery
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onions, carrots, and celery until tender, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add chicken broth and bring to a boil.
  3. Stir in shredded chicken and reduce heat to simmer.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Stir in milk until a soft dough forms.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the simmering broth.
  7. Cover and cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid, until dumplings are cooked through and fluffy.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy your comforting chicken and dumplings.
