balsamic vinaigrette recipe

This classic balsamic vinaigrette is a simple, tangy dressing perfect for salads and marinades, combining rich balsamic vinegar with smooth olive oil and fresh seasonings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl or jar, whisk together balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and honey until combined.
  2. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while continuously whisking to emulsify the dressing.
  3. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity if desired by adding more honey or vinegar.
  5. Serve immediately or refrigerate in a sealed container for up to one week. Shake well before use.

Notes

For a creamier dressing, add 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise or Greek yogurt. This vinaigrette pairs beautifully with mixed greens, roasted vegetables, or as a marinade for chicken.
